Writing Blog Content part 2

Writing Blog Content part 2

writing blog contentFirst of all, people come to the web for one thing and one thing only – information. Whether they’re shopping for products to buy or looking for a natural remedy for their acne, they’re hitting the web for information, advice, and help.

If your readers find quality information from you they’re very likely to:

  • Stick Around
  • Sign Up for Your ezine or newsletter
  • Twitter about your site
  • Recommend your posts
  • Sign up for your RSS feed
  • Come back in the future
  • Refer others to your site

Second, search engines LOVE content. The more pages you have on your website or blog filled with quality content, the better. Whether you offer product reviews, funny stories, or meaty training, quality content is rewarded by Google, MSN, and Yahoo, as well as the many other smaller search engines online.

Third, adding value to the Internet begins to establish you as an expert on your topic. By writing blog content , your readers will begin to look at you as THE go-to person for information. You’ll begin attracting interview and JV requests as well.

As you can see content really is important if you want to build a successful blog or website on the Internet. Without it, your site is just another in the World Wide Web. How can people find you if they don’t know you exist? By establishing yourself and providing your readers with quality posts and other valuable information they need and want, you will see that you can easily become one of the big fish in the pond.

But, what if you don’t have time to be writing blog content constantly? Or, what if you don’t like writing? You’re in luck, there are many ways to add quality information to your blog without having to write it all yourself.

Before we get to that, let me tell you that while you can create a blog purely made up of content that you don’t write yourself, I wouldn’t advise it. If you want to really resonate with your readers, you have to let them get to know you as well. Don’t shy away from writing some posts yourself, but instead use my suggested content creation methods along with your own writing to create even more quality information for your visitors.

One of the hottest ways to make money online is through the power of blogging. But, what does blogging require? What do you think? What ONE thing must you do above all else in order to blog?

If you’re like the majority of people, your answer probably included…you guessed it…WRITING! After all, that’s what a blog is all about right? On your blog you are sharing your thoughts with others in the form of blog posts that you’ve written.

Before you run for the hills, let me let you in on a little secret.

Blog Platform Choices

Starting a blog is  one of the most accessible ways to make money online. If you are starting your first blog, you are being confronted with many choices about how to set up your blog, including selecting your blog platform. A blogging platform is the software that will help you turn your writing into a website that can be easily navigated and accessed by visitors.

There are two basic platforms to choose from when it comes to blogging: free and paid. Both of these options have advantages and disadvantages. Before you make your decision, you should read through the pros and cons of each and think about which will be best for you.

Free sites like Blogger and Weebly have several advantages. They are very easy for new bloggers to use. Setting up a blog is as simple as following a few prompts. There is nothing to install. Some of the other advantages include:

Price: they are free to use. You don’t have to purchase a domain name as the system will give you an address based on the name of your blog.

Ease of use: Posting to your blog is easy. You can also change the look of your blog very easily. This is all done through a dashboard.

However, free blogs have some major disadvantages when it comes to creating money making blogs.

Lack of flexibility: Compared to other options out there, the design and function of a blog is very limited. You can download and install custom themes for the blog, but most look very similar. This means your blog won’t stand out as well in your niche.

Domain name: You will get  a free domain name with your blog, but the domain name will be “yourblogname.blogspot.com” or “yourblogname.weebly.com”instead of “yourblogname.com.”

Ownership: You will never truly own your blog because the files and content are hosted on their server.

WordPress is the other popular blog platform. There is a free option that functions similarly to Blogger. However, there is also a free option that allows you to have your own website name. You install WordPress on you website hosting and hook it up to a domain name that you own. If you don’t know how to do this, your hosting company should be able to walk you through the process.

Other advantages include:

Customization: WordPress themes are diverse and plentiful. Some themes will even make your blog look like an online newspaper.

Features: WordPress users have created tons of “plugins” that will increase the functionality of your blog and help you make the most out of your site.

However, You will also have to spend money to get your domain name and your website hosting.

Most professional bloggers go with the WordPress option because they maintain ownership of their blogs and can customize them to their heart’s content.

Remember your blog is your home on the internet  complete with your own back yard. You will want to constantly invite people to your home and have them play in your yard not some Else’s. If they don’t play in your yard the will never become your customer or client.

Years ago I had a free website that was ranked #7 for the keyword “motivation” they changed their mind  and demanded a large monthly fee instead of free, so I lost my website and my income, which was running about $250 a month at the time. I continue to remain skeptical of free!

Senior Entrepreneurs

Senior entrepreneurs often begin their online journey out of necessity. Perhaps they involuntarily lost their jobs through no fault of their own or had to retire on a savings that’s totally inadequate for today’s cost of living.

There are certain challenges in building a business on the internet that are unique to some seniors. One problem is that many seniors don’t know or understand the intricacies of the new computer technology. They may flounder or become discouraged as they try to learn.

One danger of trying to learn the new technology is trying to do too much, too fast. It takes time to learn even the basics of a computer and how the Internet works. Starting a business can be a scary transition from working for someone to working for yourself and when you have the added obstacle of learning a new technology, it can be very daunting.

Luckily, starting a business on the internet doesn’t require breaking the bank with startup costs. If you have a computer and access to the Internet, you’re already well on your way.

Websites and other types of help exist that promote senior entrepreneurial activities and offer solutions to any and all problems seniors may face. At first, seniors are intimidated by all they have to learn to become an online entrepreneur.

They’re afraid they may not have the mental prowess, business acumen or energy to make an online business work. They also don’t want to take on financial burdens and run a risk of losing their savings.

Most media stories tend to focus on younger entrepreneurs such as guru, Mark Zuckerberg, who became a young billionaire by introducing Facebook – a socializing network used the world over.

But, there are plenty of senior entrepreneurs who have been enormously successful with startup businesses. At the very least, seniors can easily supplement their retirement income and live a better lifestyle than before the Internet made it possible to become successful with home-based businesses.

It’s a fact that age isn’t a factor in Internet startup businesses. If you have the passion and can make a commitment to learn and utilize all that computers and the Internet has to offer, you can profit during financially tough times.

Don’t be content to waste the best years of your life living a financially strapped and lackadaisical lifestyle. Shakespeare wrote, “Leisure is a fine garment for a day, but is horrible daily attire.” Learn how the Internet can help make you into a senior entrepreneur.
